NASF Honors Individuals with Industry Awards

The National Association for Surface Finishing (NASF) recognized several members at the 2021 SUR/Fin Conference in Detroit.

Although SUR/FIN 2020 in Atlanta was postponed due to COVID-19, the Awards Committee of NASF still recognized those deserving members and presented their awards during SUR/FIN 2021 in Detroit.

The following received the NASF honors:

NASF Award of Merit is given to individuals for outstanding service of a local and/or national nature; recipients are truly deserving given their tireless efforts at the affiliate and branch level and their selfless devotion to the industry.

2021 Recipients:

  • Ross Tiamson, DANCO Metal Surfacing

Steve SmithAugust P. Munning Award is given to an NASF Supplier Member who in the opinion of his/her peers has significantly contributed to the future well-being of the NASF and who exemplifies the traits of August P. Munning—his great interest, hard work, dedication, and selfless devotion to the metal finishing industry.

  • 2021 Recipient: Steve Smith, American Plating Power
  • 2020 Recipient: Brad Durkin, Coventya

Presidential Award focuses on the extraordinary service put forth by an NASF member who is actively participating on the national level, going above and beyond the capacity of most.

  • 2021 Recipient: Rick Delawder, SWD Inc.
  • 2020 Recipient: Bill Saas

Scientific Achievement Award recognizes a person who has contributed to the advancement of the theory and practice of electroplating, metal finishing and the allied arts; raised the quality of processes and products; enhanced the status of the profession; or been involved in a combination of the above

  • 2020 Recipient: Dr. Jude H. Runge, CompCote International

Silvio Taormina Award is one of NASF’s most prestigious awards, given to an individual who has performed outstanding service to the finishing industry.

  • 2020 Recipient: Rebecca Bennett, Chicago NASF

NASF Fellow is an award to recognize people who have been NASF members for the past five years who show outstanding service, contribution and long-standing commitment to NASF for the advancement of the interests of the surface finishing industry.

2020 Recipients:
